It’s so good to be back home. I’ve been waiting for this time of the year for too long. When you’ve been living in your books for four months, you just want to escape and get out.

People often ask me if I would have done this in college instead if I had the opportunity to rewind time. But I don’t. Sure, I probably would have finished earlier, saved a lot of money, and gone through less stress, but honestly, I probably would’ve lost sight of my goal. It’s hard to remember that these abstract classes are for the sake of a hands-on career that have very little to do with what I’m studying. At a large public university, the level of difficulty is indescribable. You get lost. You fall down a lot. And sometimes, there just isn’t enough energy to pick yourself up and carry on. It’s sad, because so many dreams get crushed. It shouldn’t have to be that way. But unfortunately, that’s how the system works.

I’m more than halfway through. The first half felt like an eternity, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of the academic year is going to be the same. I hope this break goes by slowly because I know I won’t have another one for a while after these three weeks.

Woke up today with a limp. The ball of my right foot is swollen. Hurts like a #$%^&. It’s a miracle that I can still drive.

I found this recently. This never gets old.

I woke up early yesterday for an 8 AM class. My next class was at 11, so I decided to go back to my room and take a nap. The next thing I knew when I woke up, it was 11:20. And my class was on the other side of the school…

I ran across campus to class, and when I got there, all the seats were taken, as usual, so I sat on the stairs. There were only 30 minutes left of class. Better than nothing. The speaker was a female, and my professor was a male, so I figured that it was a guest speaker. At the end of class, she said, “I won’t be having office hours today because I’ll be out of town.” Guest speakers have office hours? I looked at the time. It was 11. Wait. What?

I stayed in the class for the next couple of minutes, and I see my professor strolling in. Wow. Turns out that my dorm clock was in mountain standard time, so it was an hour ahead. I wasted half an hour in the wrong class and even bothered to TAKE NOTES. I obviously didn’t notice the difference on the subject matter. And I could’ve had a better nap.

I’m such a freshman.
