newest pet peeve: deafening fire alarms

They could’ve waited till spring break, but no.  It’s happened at least three times this week.  Usually lasts from 9:30 AM to 2 PM, if not longer.  And it goes off every minute.  I’m actually grateful for going to my 8 AM class for once.  I hope today marks the end of this irritating ordeal.

More than two weeks into Lent and I haven’t messed up!  I gave up desserts (no chocolate, apple pies, cupcakes, etc.), just like last year.  And on Fridays, no meat.  It isn’t really that difficult if the food isn’t too bad.  I think the quality of the taste is more of an issue cause dorm food is typically bland.

Around 5 PM today, I was approached by two sisters from the Latter Day Saints community on Bowditch and Durant.  I walked down Bowditch and up Channing, listening to them talk about their work and outreach since they kept tagging along.  It was weird because they were dressed in business suits and looked like the type of people who would go partying every weekend.  I mean, imagine Tara Reid talking about God’s plan for you.  In all seriousness, one of them did look like her.  Apparently, they’re trying to reach people who look lost, confused, or sad.  Not sure if I was classified under one of those, but do I look sad when I’m walking on campus?  I remember being confronted with a gang of street kids on campus once and they were all like, “Why you so sad?  It’s a BEAUTIFUL day!”  It was a lot more intimidating though.

To end this on a good note, I was asked by one of my professors to be a reader next year!  Hopefully this will pull through.  It’d be nice to get a job again.  Besides, it’s about time I start giving out the Cs I didn’t deserve.  (; I kid, I kid.

Good thing I decided not to go anywhere for the weekend.  Hope everything is okay now.  What happened on Shattuck anyway?

I’ve learned something these past two weeks since the semester started.  8 AMs aren’t so bad after all.  Or maybe it’s cause I’ve only had four days.  We’ll see.  I should find some wood to knock on first.

New Year resolutions!  I keep forgetting to write this down.

  • Be a vegetarian once a week.
  • Go to the gym once a week.  I haven’t bought membership yet :|
  • Lose 5 pounds!
  • Learn a language.
  • Study harder!  And go to every class.
  • Get a job.  We’ll see how this one goes…
  • Sleep by 12:30 AM – unless I’m working on a paper.
  • Blog at least once every two weeks.
  • Spend more time with family & friends.

Some of them look far-fetched, but I’m completely serious.  I’m hoping to follow through each one of these bullets.  Actually, I’m thinking about going vegetarian during Lent.  My only concern is that it’s so long and I’m bound to forget one day.  I gave up desserts last year and I failed at least six times – not because I wanted to eat sweets, but because I simply forgot!  Sounds ridiculous coming from someone who has a working long term memory.  February 25 – April 11.  That is kinda long.

To end on a happy note, Andrew got accepted to Riverside!  (:
